Coping mechanisms are strategies that individuals use to manage and adapt to stress, adversity, or challenging situations.
They aim to:

Assist you in managing your anxiety levels
-
Help you maintain your physical, mental, and emotional well-being
The term "coping mechanism" may sound scary, but these techniques are actually really helpful and flexible with your needs and your life. They can range from something simple as taking a few seconds to breathe or as involved as doing talk-therapy.
While many of us think that coping mechanisms are all reactive, they can also be used proactively too! If you learn what triggers your anxiety and stress then you can practice coping beforehand if you know you'll enter a situation that makes you anxious.
